Rose. Always a rose. In college I used to get the Jackson and Perkins catalog, cut it up and collage the entire contents of it on my wall with masking tape. Makes an ugly dorm wall cheery. I like roses too because they're the only flower I can't kill with my black thumb.
Definitely the crocus. It is usually the first spring flower to emerge, often coming up in snow and through half frozen ground. It is very fragile, though. I love the strength of the crocus that is embodied in quietness and vulnerability. Quiet, gentle and unrelenting strength are qualities I'd like to have in such wonderful proportions as the crocus.
