We had another "get the camera" moment this afternoon. Amy was standing at the kitchen sink when she saw this guy in the bush. I don't think we've ever seen a Krider's red-tailed hawk here before, at least not so close. Usually when we see a hawk its gone before we can get the binoculars or the camera, but this one stayed a good while.

Beautiful picture! My family loves going for nature walks etc...whenever dd11 takes the dog out, I often wonder what takes so long....she is out taking in nature and hoping to see something cool like what you have pictured here ;o) Thanks for sharing! My dd11 was very impressed ;o)
Oh, it's beautiful! I was lucky enough to spot a peregrine falcon in my backyard this winter--got a few pictures, but it was snowing and she (he?) was way in the back of the yard, so my pictures aren't as awesome as yours. Still, it was an amazing thing. (Not so amazing for the poor little sparrow it was eating--but at least that part was turned away from my view.)
What a privilege to see this stoic guy. God has made some amazing things.
